A blogging course student is starting a business and asked: ‘Does a business need a blog and a website? Just a blog? Or a website that includes a blog?’
I strongly recommend having one site. Two can be hard to maintain and integrate and can also confuse your branding.
We tried it once – it was ineffective and time-consuming.
It also damaged our search results. Optimised blog articles drove traffic to the blog. But we wanted it on our website.
So we encourage businesses on our blogging courses
to start with a website that has an in-built blog facility, even if
they don’t use it straight away. Then it’s there when they need it.
